Radiology (X-ray)

Radiology (x-rays) is routinely used to provide valuable information about a pet’s bones, gastrointestinal tract (stomach, intestines, colon), respiratory tract (lungs), heart, and genitourinary system (bladder, prostate). It can be used alone or in conjunction with other diagnostic tools to provide a list of possible causes for a pet’s condition, identify the exact cause of a problem or rule out possible problems.

We recently acquired two separate state-of-the-art digital direct radiography units. One for use in the small animal hospital, and the other for use by our veterinarians with our equine patients. This new equipment produces higher quality and therefore more diagnostic images than the old plastic x-ray film technology. After the x-ray exposure, we are able to view the results on the computer screen within 5-seconds. Additionally we can email or record these images on a DVD for your family to view. We frequently send images to board certified veterinary radiologist, for specialized interpretation at Auburn University or the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
